NURS 141 - Medical Surgical Nursing I
5.0 Credits
First in two-course series using a systems approach to examine adult health and illness. Focus on altered functioning related to disease states, critical thinking, nursing process, cultural awareness, integration of pharmacologic principles. Prerequisite: NURS 132, NURS 133, NURS 135. Co-requisite: NURS 142. Permit code required.

Upon successful completion of this course, student will be able to:
- Describe etiology, pathophysiology, signs/symptoms, medical and nursing management of common disease processes. [REASON]
- Use the nursing process to analyze data, identify nursing diagnoses, and develop a plan of care for adults with medical surgical disorders. [REASON]
- Integrate knowledge of pharmacology, lab results, and diagnostic findings into client data base. [REASON]

- Apply legal and ethical principles involved in caring for the client and family. [REASON]
