Prepare the growing area and propagate, plant, cultivate, and harvest a diverse crop of organic vegetable, herb, and flower crops suitable for the Pacific Northwest with an emphasis on biointensive, polycultural systems. Prerequisite

Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify and list a variety of different vegetables well adapted for cultivation in the Pacific Northwest.
  2. Define and describe the tenets of biointensive vegetable garden design and illustrate those tenets in a legible drawing.
  3. Identify, analyze and evaluate soil test information to determine soil condition, necessary cultivation practices, and amendment for biointensive, organic vegetable culture.
  4. Apply appropriate tools and technique for successful crop establishment and cultivation.
