HORT 244 - Vegetable Production II
2.0 Credits Prepare the growing area and propagate, plant, cultivate, and harvest a diverse crop of organic vegetable, herb, and flower crops suitable for the Pacific Northwest with an emphasis on biointensive, polycultural systems.
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify and list a variety of different vegetables well adapted for cultivation in the Pacific Northwest. [REASON]
- Define and describe the tenets of biointensive vegetable garden design and illustrate those tenets in a legible drawing. [REASON]
- Identify, analyze and evaluate soil test information to determine soil condition, necessary cultivation practices, and amendment for biointensive, organic vegetable culture. [REASON]
- Apply appropriate tools and technique for successful crop establishment and cultivation. [ACT]
