HSC 061 - Family Literacy



Maximum of 5.0 possible Credits
Through activities and discussions students develop communication and problem solving skills to foster positive family and work relationships. Counts toward high school elective credit. Registration permitted first seven weeks (six in summer) as space is available. S/U grade option.
Prerequisite Departmental advising required.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Recognize and apply developmentally appropriate family life skills.
  2. Demonstrate an ability to communicate and problem-solve family, work, and community issues.
  3. Make informed choices about child guidance that reflect the parent’s values.
  4. Research resources and support for parenting skills.
  5. Explore future career options to work towards gainful employment.
  6. Utilize reading and writing skills while learning about topics that are relevant to parenting.
