LIBR 101 - Library Research Skills

An in-depth review of various hardbound and electronic information sources including a look at the impact of technology on information and the global community. S/U grade option.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the roles of the library and technology in academic research.
- Identify information needed.
- Analyze a variety of types and formats of potential sources for information.
- Identify basic information tools and terminology associated with academic research.
- Construct and implement effectively designed search strategies.
- Articulate and apply criteria for evaluating information and its sources.
- Create an annotated bibliography that organizes and synthesizes your information for academic research.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the ethical use of information, including copyright, proper citations, and plagiarism.
