MGMT 260 - Small Business Management

This course is designed to give students who are interested in entrepreneurship the exposure to a wide range of subjects essential to the formation, operation and success of a small business. Business planning and plan implementation is an integral part of the class.
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify and describe meaningful goals and objectives for a small business.
  2. Describe the steps in the strategic planning process.
  3. Explain the advantages and disadvantages of the various forms of business ownership and of purchasing an existing business.
  4. Describe issues related to marketing small businesses.
  5. Create an introductory business plan, including a marketing plan and financial plan.
  6. Explain issues related to business ethics, legal requirements, social responsibilities and government regulations.
