HORT 196 - Introduction to the Nursery and Greenhouse
3.0 Credits Explore greenhouse/nursery operations and basic plant production requirements in a hands-on approach to learning at our college nursery facility. Field trips to commercial operations. Be prepared to arrive and depart from field strip sites on your own. S/U grade option. Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate rudimentary skills in greenhouse/nursery facility operation, maintenance, and plant culture.
- Demonstrate rudimentary skills in pest monitoring and documentation.
- Identify the means for environmental and cultural control in the greenhouse and nursery.
- Demonstrate basic skills in plant propagation.
- Function as part of a group.
