ENGR 121 - Introduction to Engineering 2: Design
5.0 Credits
An introductory engineering course that explores the role of creativity, teamwork, and communication in promoting innovative engineering design utilizing MATLAB. Students develop their knowledge and skills in all three areas through a series of hands on projects and reflective activities.
Prerequisite ENGR 111 and MATH& 142; or MATH& 152.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:- Define the engineering problem solving process.
- Describe the importance of and the role of innovation and creativity in solving problems.
- Apply design concepts using the MATLAB and microcontroller.
- Perform computations using the MATLAB command window.
- Perform operations on data sets using matrix operations.
- Write commented MATLAB scripts to execute computational tasks.
- Write user-defined MATLAB functions.
- Generate plots of 2D and 3D functions using MATLAB.
- Implement built in MATLAB functions to perform computations.
- Collaborate with team members in situations requiring creative problem solving.
- Describe how various technical disciplines contribute to the solution of complex problems.
