SHS 145 - Survey of Disabling Conditions Maximum of 4.0 possible Credits Reviews major disabling conditions from multiple perspectives; explores how disabilities affect psychosocial development and the functional implications on career and family. Basic medical terminology addressed.
Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the characteristics, causes, and prevalence of disabilities, and describe employment prospects for individuals with disabilities. [EXPLORE]
- Research community resources for high and low tech accommodations used at work and at home. [REASON]
- Describe the psychosocial developments that disabled individuals and their families undergo. [EXPLORE]
- Demonstrate use of respectful language while portraying people with disabilities. [EXPLORE]
