Program Description The Construction Management Associate of Applied Science-Transfer Degree program allows students to update existing knowledge and skills and/or acquire up-to-date technical and managerial skills. The degree requires students to work with a Construction Management advisor to select those courses which will help them achieve their educational and career goals. Most courses are offered in the evening. This AAS-T is designed for a direct transfer to the Bachelor of Applied Science in Construction Management at University of Washington (UW). For further information visit their website and work with your advisor. This degree requires successful completion of a minimum of 108 credits as outlined.

OUTCOME: Use scientific and mathematical methods, modes of inquiry, and terminology to demonstrate knowledge, comprehension, and application of science concepts and insights.

  2. Demonstrate the ability to estimate quantities and costs for the bidding process in a construction project.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to schedule a basic construction project.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to use current technology related to the construction process.
  5. Interpret construction documents (contracts, specifications, and drawings) used in managing a construction project.
  6. Apply basic principles of construction accounting.
  7. Use basic surveying techniques used in building layout.
  8. Discuss basic principles of ethics in the construction industry.
  9. Identify the fundamentals of contracts, codes, and regulations that govern a construction project.
  10. Recognize basic construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  11. Recognize basic safety hazards on a construction site and standard prevention measures.
  12. Recognize the basic principles of structural design.
  13. Recognize the basic principles of mechanical, electrical, and piping systems.

The program code for this degree is 570W. For financial aid, advising, and other reasons, students should work with their advisor to ensure that this code is properly recorded on their academic record.

  • Admission Requirements to the University of Washington Bachelor of Science in Construction Management Program All students who intend to transfer to UW should talk with a UW advisor to review specific admission requirements. Students must have a 2.7 minimum cumulative grade point average to be considered for admission to this program. The UW will transfer a block of one hundred-two (102) quarter credits. Edmonds CC CM graduates shall be granted a waiver from taking the following UW CM courses:
    • CM 310 Intro to Const Ind (3 credits)
    • CM 313 Const Methods and Materials (4 credits)
    • CM 311 Const Documents (2 credits)
    • CM 334 Const Surveying (2 credits)
    • CM 333 Const Safety (3 credits)
    • Total UW credits waived:  14 credits

Edmonds CC Construction Management graduates shall take a total of 78 credits of upper division coursework at the University of Washington.

Associate in Applied Science-Transfer General Information


Program of Study Outcomes Edmonds CC’s four General Education Outcomes­ (Communicate, Act Responsibly, Reason, and Explore) are promoted throughout the college’s programs. Instructional programs of 45 credits or more foster learning in all four General Education Outcomes.

Student achievement is assessed in the general and program specific outcomes via the courses and course objectives that align with those outcomes. More information about program outcomes and course objectives can be found on the Using Program Requirement Sheets  page.

Credit/Grade Requirements A minimum of 30 credits or one-third of the required college level (100-level or above) credits, whichever is less, must be earned at Edmonds CC. Students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in all college level courses.

Students Are Advised To:

  • Plan your schedule several quarters in advance in order to accommodate courses that are offered only once or twice a year;
  • Review the college catalog for required course prerequisites and include these in schedule planning;
  • Communicate with an academic advisor and/or a faculty advisor; and
  • At least three quarters before you plan to graduate, contact any college(s) where you have earned credits and have your official transcript(s) sent to Edmonds CC. Then, submit an Evaluation Request - Transfer Credits Form (available in Enrollment Services) to activate the process of transferring credits to Edmonds CC.   

Graduation Application A completed Graduation Application form must be submitted online by the 10th day of the quarter in which the student expects to graduate. Note: Applications for summer quarter are due by the 8th day of the quarter.

Transferring to Another University or College

  • Admission application deadlines vary, students must meet the deadline for the university or college to which they plan to apply for admission to transfer.
  • Consultation with the appropriate department or an advisor at the intended transfer school is highly recommended.

Cultural Diversity Requirement All students earning a degree or certificate of 45 credits or more must meet a cultural diversity (CD) requirement by taking at least five (5) credits of CD courses.
