See program requirement sheet.

This broad-based curriculum teaches the skills students need to enter a wide range of Web Development careers. This curriculum is a cross-discipline approach to the emerging technologies being used on the Internet and the World Wide Web and teaches students how to learn and adapt to emerging technologies. This degree will help individuals prepare for employment in web database development and administration, web programming and application development, and web development and administration.

Entry Requirements Students entering CIS programs will need to contact Enrollment Services and take both the English and Math placement tests. Students should bring the results of these tests to their first advising appointment with a CIS adviser for proper placement into the program. In addition, some CIS certificates and degrees begin at an advanced level and are designed for students already in the IT field. Students entering these programs may complete  a portfolio of prior learning by taking CIS 116 . The portfolio will be used to waive entry-level courses and place students in the appropriate advanced courses. Please see a CIS adviser for more information.

The prerequisite for the required math course, CIS 114  Math and Problem Solving, is placement into MATH 080 . Students with ACCUPLACER scores below the required level should take the appropriate math prerequisites and plan their schedule accordingly.

Credit/Grade Requirements This ATA degree is awarded upon completing a minimum of 96 credits of Program Requirements and Electives as outlined. A minimum of 30 credits or one-third, whichever is less, of the required credits must have been received from Edmonds Community College. Students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in all college-level courses as well as a minimum grade point average of 2.8 within the program requirements.

Career Management Requirement Students obtaining ATA degrees are required to take at least 1 credit of career management, which can be satisfied by taking either CIS 116  or CIS 280 .

Cultural Diversity Requirement All students earning degrees and certificates of 45 credits or more must meet a cultural diversity (CD) requirement by completing courses marked as “CD” on the requirement sheet and/or “Meets Cultural Diversity Requirement” in the quarterly class schedule. Those courses may also be used to fulfill other requirements of the degree or certificate.

Graduation Application A completed Graduation Application form must be submitted to Enrollment Services by the 10th day of the quarter in which the student expects to graduate. Forms are available online or at Enrollment Services located in Lynnwood Hall.

CWU Transfer This ATA degree transfers directly to Central Washington University’s Bachelors in Information Technology and Administrative Management on the Edmonds Community College campus.
