Adults age 17 and older without a high school diploma can take classes to complete minimum Washington state high school diploma requirements to earn an Edmonds Community College high school diploma. The average student age is 22; however, many students are in their 30s, 40s, and older. Students 19 and older are eligible for reduced tuition. Qualified students may also take college classes that meet high school diploma requirements.

Entry Requirements: Student who are at least 17 years of age and do not have a high school diploma are eligible for the AHS program. Incoming students will take the college ACCUPLACER® test and meet entry-level course placement requirements. Students who do not meet these minimum requirements will be referred to academic skill building classes first. Students under the age of 18 must complete special admission requirements.

When to apply? Students may begin fall, winter, spring, or summer quarter. Students should meet with an AHS adviser well in advance of the quarter they wish to begin. Students will need to bring their high school transcript(s) to the advising meeting. The adviser will determine which credits are needed and help students select courses that match life and work schedules.

Students are advised to:

  • Meet regularly with an adviser,
  • Use campus resources, and
  • Attend all classes.
